Phelps (USA) receives Lifetime Achievement Award from FINA


RENANG INDONESIA. On August 4, 2012, the last day of the Swimming competition at the Aquatics Centre during the London Olympic Games, legendary U.S. swimmer, Michael Phelps, received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione in front of the many fans, his family and friends, cheering and clapping from the stands.
The American, who called time on a record-breaking, remarkable career at the end of the 2012 London Olympics, is the owner of a total 22 Olympic medals, including 18 gold, an feat never achieved before.
The Trophy is a highly polished sculpture in stainless steel by Nick Moran titled "Brindis". On the white marble base, the following inscription was graved: "To Michael Phelps, The greatest Olympic athlete of all time, From FINA."
