RENANG INDONESIA-DUBAI, UAE, November 15. A pair of meet
marks tumbled during the first night of long course meter swimming at the Asian
Games in Dubai .
Olympic hero Sun Yang broke the meet record in the men's 200 free with a 1:45.49. That swim crushed the 1:48.88 set by Zhang Lin back in 2009. Hao Yun took second in 1:49.87, whileJapan 's
Takumi Komatsu placed third in 1:50.68. Sun's time is not far back of his
lifetime best of 1:44.93 from the Olympics this summer that ranks him ninth in
the event.
China 's
Wang Shun demolished the meet mark in the men's 400 IM with a 4:16.59, far
surpassing the 4:20.43 clocked by Zhao Tao back in 2006. Japan 's Keita Sunama finished second in 4:19.75,
while China 's
Liu Weijia earned third in 4:21.25. Wang has been much faster with a 4:11.61
that ranks 16th all time on his resume.
