Phelps and his golfing partner Paul Casey wrapped up competition at the Alfred
Dunhill Links championship over the weekend, unable to qualify for the final
round but ecstatic about their performance in the Pro-Am tournament.
Phelps and Casey ended their competition in a 17-way tie for 80th place, shooting a 66 on the third hole one day after Phelps' astounding 53-yard putt made headlines around the world. The duo finished in the top half of the 168 teams competing in the tournament. After three rounds, only the top 20 pairs were invited to play a fourth round at the historic St. Andrews course.
"Being able to play in this event as an amateur and to play alongside so many great golfers has been memorable," Phelps said, "and there is so much history attached to the Old Course in particular that you can really feel it around you. I very much hope I get another invite, because it is something I would definitely love to experience again."

Phelps and Casey played their third round on the St. Andrews course, where the sport of golf was believed to have been created. The pro-am tournament featured teams consisting of a professional golfer and amateur player. Each day the teams play 18 holes, rotating among three courses: Kingsbarn, Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Pro golfer Alexander Noren and amateur golfer Ernesto Bertarelli won the team competition at the Dunhill Links championship. Branden Grace of South Africa won the professional portion of the championships in a close match with Denmark's Thorbj?rn Olesen to win his fourth European title this season.
Phelps' play in Scotland was part of a worldwide tour of famous golf courses that is part of his goal of improving his game while traveling to see parts of the world he had never visited, or only seen while traveling for swimming competitions. No announcement has been made on his next golfing competition. (swimmingworld)
