PRSI Jateng Bidik Perenang Muda

Road Show ke SD-SD

SOLO, - Langkah berani dilakukan Pengurus Provinsi (Pengprov) Persatuan Renang Seluruh Indonesia (PRSI) Jateng.
"Kami ingin membidik perenang-perenang muda. Pembibitan sangat efektif dilakukan memang sejak usia SD," kata Ketua Bidang (Kabid) Pembinaan dan Prestasi (Binpres) Pengprov PRSI Jateng, Deby Rachyuanto, Kamis (11/10).
"Total setiap kota mendapat jatah tiga bulan. Setelah Blora, giliran kota Solo.
Devy mengakui, program road show

(GATRAnews)

Michael Phelps Wins GQ Russia's International Man of the Year

RENANG INDONESIA-PHOENIX, Arizona, October 8. MICHAEL Phelps has been on too many magazine covers to count. There are the usual sporting magazine suspects: ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and our own Swimming World Magazine an even ten times. Then we have the style and health magazines: Men's Journal, Men's Health, Details, and ... GQ Russia?

Phelps coolly posed abs-exposed on the cover of the October issue of Russia's Gentleman's Quarterly (GQ). Named "International Man of the Year" a rough translation of the article compared his Olympic accomplishments to 9-time Olympic Champion and Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina, and called him the "chief Olympian of all time." It's hard to argue that.
For the tenth year, GQ Russia devotes its October issue to honoring the top in their fields -- from Politician to Musician of the Year.

Last week, Phelps posted the cover shot on his Facebook, with the caption:
"GQ Russia, International Man of the Year, so cool! What an honor!"

Maybe the next time we see Phelps on a magazine cover, he'll have swapped the swimsuit for a golf club...

Michael Phelps and Golf Partner Finish in Top 100 at Alfred Dunhill Links Golf Championship

RENANG INDONESIA-ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, October 8. MICHAEL Phelps and his golfing partner Paul Casey wrapped up competition at the Alfred Dunhill Links championship over the weekend, unable to qualify for the final round but ecstatic about their performance in the Pro-Am tournament.

Phelps and Casey ended their competition in a 17-way tie for 80th place, shooting a 66 on the third hole one day after Phelps' astounding 53-yard putt made headlines around the world. The duo finished in the top half of the 168 teams competing in the tournament. After three rounds, only the top 20 pairs were invited to play a fourth round at the historic St. Andrews course.

"Being able to play in this event as an amateur and to play alongside so many great golfers has been memorable," Phelps said, "and there is so much history attached to the Old Course in particular that you can really feel it around you. I very much hope I get another invite, because it is something I would definitely love to experience again."

Phelps and Casey played their third round on the St. Andrews course, where the sport of golf was believed to have been created. The pro-am tournament featured teams consisting of a professional golfer and amateur player. Each day the teams play 18 holes, rotating among three courses: Kingsbarn, Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Pro golfer Alexander Noren and amateur golfer Ernesto Bertarelli won the team competition at the Dunhill Links championship. Branden Grace of South Africa won the professional portion of the championships in a close match with Denmark's Thorbj?rn Olesen to win his fourth European title this season.

Phelps' play in Scotland was part of a worldwide tour of famous golf courses that is part of his goal of improving his game while traveling to see parts of the world he had never visited, or only seen while traveling for swimming competitions. No announcement has been made on his next golfing competition. (swimmingworld)

SWIMMING WORLD CUP 2012, Doha day 2 - Indomitable Hosszu repeats 7-gold success

Chaker Belhadj, FINA Press Commission Member

October 7, 2012 DOHA - Traditionally, Hungarian swimming always favoured long course competitions. Successful swimmers from this country in short course events are rare. We are currently witnessing a change in course that is profitable to the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup as it was brilliantly demonstrated by Hungarian Katinka Hosszu on the final day of the Doha stage at the Hamad swimming complex. The Hungarian swimmer, who has been training at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles (USC) for the last few years, was eager to bounce back from this summer's slump at the London Olympics where she missed the podium in the 400 IM (fourth with 58 hundredths of a second behind China's Li).

With her 14 individual gold medals (seven in each leg), one can easily assure that the Hungarian successfully dispelled all doubt and re-affirmed her place among the world's best ahead of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Istanbul in December.

Hosszu and Hungary top medal stand
On day 2, Hosszu took out four events and set three new world marks in the 400 IM (4:30.03), 400 free (4:04.23) and 100 IM (59.74), facing pressure from both compatriot Zsuzsanna Jakabos (4:30.44 in the 400 IM and 1:00.41 in the 100 IM) and Melissa Ingram from New Zealand (4:05.62 in the 400 free). Hosszu's fourth victory was obtained in the 200 fly in 2:09.31 with a 1.30 margin over Jakabos. With such fast performances, the small Hungarian delegation of five swimmers finished on top of the medals table in Doha with 19 awards: 8 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze, ahead of Australia (6 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze) and Japan (5 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze), 13 medals each.

Veteran swimmer Therese Alshammar (SWE) set an example to the young rising talents by claiming her third victory in the 50 fly (25.62), edging Dutch Inge Dekker (25.98) and Hong Kong's Hang Yu Sze (26.60). The other Scandinavian swimmer to shine was Jennie Johansson, winner of the 50 breast in 30.69 ahead of Fumiko Kawanabe (JPN, 31.55) and team mate Joline Hoestman (31.59). Kawanabe took revenge over the Swedish swimmers after dominating the 200 breast in 2:20.59, ahead of Hoestman (2:24.03) and Tanja Smid (SLO, 2:24.46) while Johansson had to settle for fourth (2:28.00).

2008 double Olympic champion Britta Steffen (GER) emerged victorious in 53.40 after reversing the situation in the 100 free; at mid-race, she was behind Michelle Coleman (SWE, 53.60) and Inge Dekker (NED, 54.25) but powered home in the second lap and raced for the win. Steffen also climbed the podium in the 100 IM, finishing third in 1:01.58.

Despite her victory in the 100 back in 57.90 (867 points) ahead of Rachel Goh (AUS, 58.88) and Noriko Inada (JPN, 59.27), Daryna Zevina (UKR) did not repeat her nice performance from day 1 in the 200 back (929 points). In the 400 IM, Zevina made another trip to the podium, picking up bronze in 4:07.17. Katheryn Meaklim (RSA) and Kin Lok Chan (HKG) completed the podium in the women's 400 IM (4:46.05) and 200 fly (2:13.12), respectively.

African record for Le Clos
Chad Le Clos (RSA) was well resolved to leave Doha with at least one victory in the 100 fly, in which he would face World record holder Evgeny Korotyshkin (RUS). After a brilliant first 50m, which he completed in 23.39 (only 49 hundredths of a second slower than his race in the 50 fly on day 1), Le Clos outran the Russian (50.22), and at the same time, improved his African record to 49.60. The bronze went to U.S. Thomas Shields (50.42). Le Clos' new continental mark also earned him the day's best scoring (933 points).
The winners in freestyle events (50, 200 and 1500) did not match expectations. 2000 Olympic champion Anthony Ervin (USA) won the 50 free in 21.02 ahead of George Bovell (TRI, 21.06) and Kyle Richardson (AUS, 21.54) while the World record holder Roland Schoeman (RSA, 21.55) had to settle for fourth.
On his victory, Anthony Ervin (USA) said: “After this morning my main aim was to find the details I could improve on to swim fast tonight and I’m pleased with the event as it is my best time in this event. The FINA World Cup is a great event to keep the interest of swimming for the public after the post-Olympic lull.”
16-year-old Kecheng Wang from China created a sensation in the 1500 free, touching first after a 14:43.83 effort ahead of Hungarian Gergo Kis (third, 14:56.57). The young hero from day 1, Japan's Daiya Seto, delivered nice performances, taking silver in the 1500 free (14:48.97) and third in both the 200 IM (1:54.78) and 100 breast (58.60). In the 200 free, Tommaso D'Orsogna (AUS, 1:43.84) was the surprise winner, overrunning South Africa's Darian Townsend (1:43.95) and compatriot Robert Hurley (1:44.05).

As expected, the untouchable South Africans, Cameron van der Burgh (57.22 in a new WR, 917 points) and Darian Townsend (1:53.75), dominated the operations in the 100 breast and 200 IM, respectively overcoming Glenn Snyders (NZL, 58.13) and Laszlo Cseh (HUN, 1:53.85).
Post-event, Darian Townsend (RSA) said: “I’m happy that I have one medal of each colour here at Doha. I am not sure how much more swimming I’ll do this season but Dubai and Doha have been awesome. The South Africans have put on a great show this year. We have our two Olympic gold medallists here and that’s a great motivation."
Poland and Russia claimed their unique victory in the backstroke events with Stanislav Donets (RUS), who was beaten on day 1 by two Australians, taking revenge in the 50 back (23.49) and edging Australians Robert Hurley (23.55) and Ashley Delaney (23.86). As for Poland, Radoslow Kawecki set the best world mark in the 200 back (1:50.89) by holding at bay Kazuki Watanabe (JPN, 1:52.64) and Ashley Delaney (AUS, 1:52.86).

Yessy Yosaputra: Si Ratu Renang Jawa Barat

Yessy Yosaputra

"Awalnya, aku gak punya niatan menjadi atlet renang.

SWIMMING WORLD CUP 2012, Doha day 1: Hosszu and Seto complete hat trick

Chaker Belhadj, FINA Press Commission Member

October 6, 2012 DOHA - The second stage of the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup, which is hosted for the first time by Doha, in Qatar, offers a nice array of athletes with the presence of five Olympic champions or medallists in individual events: South Africans Chad Le Clos and Cameron van der Burgh, Britta Steffen from Germany, American Anthony Ervin and Hungary's Laszlo Cseh. World record holders (short course) Roland Schoeman (RSA), Evgeny Korotyshkin (RUS) and Therese Alshammar (SWE) are also part of the stellar line-up in Doha. Rising stars include 2010 Youth Olympic Games medallists Australian Kenneth To and Ukrainians Daryna Zevina and Andrii Govorov.
Despite the average number of 115 swimmers from 30 nations entered in the competition, the results were of quality on day 1 with nine best world performances in total. Of the 30 nations competing, 16 climbed the podium and seven of them the highest march of the podium. Australia ranks first with five gold medals and one silver, ahead of Japan (4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze), Hungary and Sweden (3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze each), South Africa (2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze), Germany (1 gold and 2 silver) and Ukraine (1 gold and 1 bronze).

Unstoppable Hosszu continues winning streak
Buoyed by her Dubai success, Katinka Hosszu (HUN) again imposed her lead in three events, also improving her performances set in the first leg: 800 free in 8:29.31, 200 free in 1:54.79 and 200 IM in 2:09.86. In these last two races, Hosszu bested the season's world marks before seeking a fourth podium in the 200 back (2:07.54). The latter event was won by Ukrainian Daryna Zevina, 18 years old, in 2:02.99.

This new best world mark earned her 929 points, the highest points value in the female category. Zevina captured a second medal in the 200 free, bronze after a 1:56.31 effort. Zevina made two podium appearances at the FINA World Championships in Shanghai in July 2011 before collecting three victories at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Lima a month later in backstroke events.

Still in the women's field, World Cup 2011 winner Therese Alshammar (SWE) repeated her double success from Dubai - 50 free and 100 fly in 24.44 and 57.22 (best world mark), respectively - by edging Britta Steffen (GER, 24.46) and Inge Dekker (NED, 58.04) in the respective races. The Dutch sprint specialist won a second medal in the 50 free (bronze in 24.78). Besides Alshammar, Sweden got itself talked about through Jennie Johansson, winner of the 100 breast in 1:06.11 (best world mark), and Joline Hoestman, third in 1:07.25. The silver went to Japanese Fumiko Kawanabe (1:06.96). The only Japanese victory of the day was reserved for Noriko Inada in the 50 back (27.29) ahead of Australia's Rachel Goh (27.67) and Swedish Michelle Coleman (28.05), who did better in the 200 free (second in 1:56.25).

After the race, Therese Alshammar said: “My year was very good until two weeks before the Olympics, I ruptured a disc in my neck so I could not race all the events I wanted. I don’t know what will happen, I’m enjoying myself now. I trained hard this year and it has been disappointing. I’m not 100% fit. I have no big plans for this year. I’m just trying to enjoy swimming again.”

Zsuzsanna Jakabos (HUN) picked up silver in the 200 IM (2:10.58) ahead of South African Katheryn Meaklim (2:12.73) and the bronze in the 800 free (8:35.48) behind Slovenia's Tanja Smid (8:30.60). Hong Kong's Yu Szeg performed well by repeating her third place finish in the 100 fly (59.23).

Olympic champion beaten in men's 200 fly
The men's events were marked by young sensation from Japan, Daiya Seto, overcoming Olympic champion Chad Le Clos (RSA) in the 200 fly, with a blistering time of 1:51.30 (best world mark). The thrilling race ended in the slimmest of margins, one hundredth of a second between the 1-2 finishers. The minor medal went to U.S. Thomas Shields. Seto also dominated the 400 IM (4:02.51), touching the wall ahead of Laszlo Cseh (HUN, 4:03.71) and Chaosheng Huang (CHN, 4:07.58). In the latter event, the Japanese missed the Asian record by seven hundredths of a second. His victory in the 200 breast was also brilliant: 2:04.87, best global mark, ahead of Germany's Marco Koch (2:05.72) and U.S. Sean Mahoney (2:06.23).

Olympic champion Cameron van der Burgh (RSA) took out the 50 breast in 25.95 (best world mark), edging compatriot Roland Schoeman (26.38) and Glenn Snyders from New Zealand (26.68). In the 50 fly, the podium was all African with Schoeman taking first in 22.34, Jason Dunford from Kenya second (22.87) and Chad Le Clos third (22.90).

The Australian delegation was in shape as well with five victories: a tie for first in the 100 free (47.10) shared between Tommaso D'Orsogna and Kenneth To. U.S. Anthony Ervin placed third (47.17). To, 2010 Youth Olympics silver medallist in the 200 IM, won the 100 IM in 51.58, which earned him 953 points (the best performance among men), ahead of George Bovell (TRI, 51.87) and Darian Townsend (52.76).

Speaking after the event, Kenneth To said: “I am pretty happy with today, especially after coming off a tough event in Dubai. It’s been lots of travelling but it’s been two great events and it gives me good momentum for the European circuit. I am swimming well and I know it, so I am pleased. George (Bovell) is swimming well and he almost beat me tonight, so I gotta watch out!”

Robert Hurley (AUS) had a strong come back in the World Cup circuit with a double victory un the 400 IM (3:42.89) and 100 back more especially (50.18), in which he equalised the Oceanian record after beating 2010 World champion Stanislav Donets (RUS, 50.47) and Kosuke Hagino (JPN, 50.92).
